It is available on DVD as well as streaming video (link below). Mourning doves were protected as traditional backyard songbirds for 100 years in Michigan. Recent and historic public opinion polls show the majority of Michigan citizens, including the majority of Michigan hunters, oppose the shooting of doves in Michigan. On June 18, 2004, after more than 25 years of failed attempts by dove shooting proponents, a narrow majority of politicians knowingly ignored the will of the people and established the state's first mourning dove shooting season, allowing the needless killing of the small birds. On March 28, 2005, the Committee to Restore the Dove Shooting Ban, through a massive statewide grassroots citizen effort, submitted more than 275,000 signatures from Michigan voters - fully 73% more signatures than the 159,000 required by law for certification. On June 2, 2005, the Board of State Canvassers officially approved the Committee's petition signatures without a single challenge from anyone, stopping the shooting of mourning doves in Michigan communities until the next General Election. On November 7, 2006, voters will decide whether to allow the needless target shooting of Michigan's official Bird of Peace or restore the state's dove shooting ban heritage. What's gonna happen when the buses don't run and what's gonna happen when the, winter comes what are you gonna do, what are you gonna do when the oil runs out?
