We have Grackles

grackles are noisy gregarious aggressive birds...

like large black birds...

mostly found in the midwest and east coast....

guess they are sorta like starlings

(also think there is a species of grackle in the south and southwest of the US)

Ah! Starlings tend to argue a lot.

I like starlings, they seem happy little birds and have beutiful plumage which seems to range from black to petro; blue in some light, plus I like the way the flocks zoom around the sky in interesting patterns. alas, many folks think of them as pests on this side of the pond

Me too :-) The flying flocks are amazing - I can watch them for hours. We saw a gorgeous little one in Kingston last summer. He was obviously used to people, and he was sitting on a fence. I chatted to him (I know I'm mad) and he was quite interested.
