I used my old volunteer badge from another agency for elephant rescue that shall remain anonymous. But basically it meant that I was able to get back into the elephant enclosure and do a thorough check of the girls. And the girls were absolutely SHOCKED that I was asking them to open mouths and lift feet and actually giving them treats for doing it. When I pulled dried apple slices out of my pockets they three girls began frisking me like a drunk at a burlesque show! In between giggling like a girl and trying to give them a good scratching and treats they seemed happy. but seeing the pile o crap behind them and the leg shackles and bullhooks I could not ever condone them being forced to perform. The guy seemed like a dick and blew cigar smoke in the girls mouth when I was looking at their teeth. Circuses are no place for animals...At least this tradjedy was not as bad as before.
