Guest guest
There is a woman at work who always pooh poohs any attempts at not buying from large multi-nationals, and says it doesn't make any difference. I got a bit sarcastic and cutting (Peter will confirm I can be cutting !) with her last time. I wish she would try instead of just being lazy about it. Luckily there are two new youngsters in the department now, one of them has previously done hunt sabbing, and both interested in not buying from multinationals etc. Jo
Guest guest
today, i went down to the pasta shop to get something fer lunch.... heading to the salad bar is sometimes like playing russian roulette, and you have to hope someone in front of you didn't play musical spoons... anyways...there was one fellow at the salad bar.. and as i sat and watched..he tooked the tongs for the lettuce..and just went down the line of stuff, using those tongs.... now a. no one else could get salad, as he held the tongs for the lettuce b. thats freakin disgusting, as i watched him grab a bit of everything, including definately non vegan stuff.... so..after watching for about 30 seconds...i finally piped up " excuse me, but, you prolly shouldn't be doing that " no reaction " sir, you are using the salad tongs and thats the only pair " crickets sing in the background, a tumbleweed rolls past *mutter* " i guess hearing aid batteries weren't on sale at wal-mart " that got him to turn around...and start to berate me, as he was only going to be a minute, and how rude it was for me to even mention wot he was doing i just pointed to the cheese bowl... " you touched the salad tongs to that " he blinked, and went " so " " well, i'm allergic to dairy, as a matter of fact, i'll go into anaphylatic shock " (so, that was a lie, but he don't know that) he just stared at me..holding the tongs like some forgetten archaelogical find.... finally, one of the workers, whom i talk t oeveryday rushed over, took the tongs from the guy, who was still just staring, and said " i'll just go wash these " and still, the guy just stared... finally, he sorta blinked and wandered over to the cashier, occassionally glaring back to the salad bar i just waved... and got a free salad >jo <jo.heartwork >Feb 6, 2006 4:16 PM > > Annoying people > >There is a woman at work who always pooh poohs any attempts at not buying >from large multi-nationals, and says it doesn't make any difference. Guest guest
Hi Jo I wonder why some people do get that way. Guest guest
There will be people like that, does it matter what she thinks, you probably would not care if you did not have to work with her. Guest guest
The people in my department are very nice. The woman who always argues is nice in other ways too. Occasionally, like before Christmas, there are department lunchtime buffets, and people bring in veggie and vegan food, and label it up - leave the wrappers to be read, etc. At the last one there was a choice of about three vegan items, and loads of veggie items. The meaty stuff was not very abundant at all. , peter hurd <swpgh01 wrote: > > You are very lucky! > > The Valley Vegan............ > > jo <jo.heartwork wrote: > It is indeed. Guest guest
Way too subtle, would be totally lost and wasted on them.......... The Valley Vegan.............fraggle <EBbrewpunx wrote: i guess it would get old after awhile but..hey...you can make a game out of it... see wot it takes to stump em, and then see how you can top it when they say they have a lovely dead critter sandwich.. answers: "ah, you must be so proud, bet next week you'll learn to tie yer shoelaces" *follow with a reasuring smile* " u kiss your mum with that mouth?" *talk into collar* "Central, he's taken the bait, over" *worried look* "say, Bob, is that the sandwich that was on so and so level in the fridge earlier?" back away slowly.... peter hurd Feb 7, 2006 4:45 PM Re: Re: Annoying people I have probably given that and every other reply until I am blue in the face, just encourages them to go on and on, as they do tend to like the sound of their own voices. Trouble is I dont, so I just ignore them and not give them the satisfaction of vegan baiting......although I do usually make the odd comment on how fat they are, and how unhealthy they look.........sometimes when eloquence escapes me , I just tell them to f*** off, but I try not to lower myself to their level too often..............
