Guest guest
I am so happy we brought this topic up. It's almost tomato season and now we will know how to handle those little delicious treats! Guest guest
Tony that is terrible you became that ill. Hopefully this topic saved others from going through the same thing Donna Sent via BlackBerry from T-Mobile " tony sears " <tonysears Fri, 01 Feb 2008 07:43:13 Re: tomatoes - leaves Well- I think you all just saved me a trip to the emergency room! I know a great deal about growing vegetables - I grew up in farm country and have had a vegetable garden for years --- how I managed to miss this information about tomatoes is beyond me. I'm very grateful for that link, and to all of you who responded. The truth is I still have tomatoes fruiting on last year's plants in my garden - and will pick one tomorrow. I might very well have thrown in a leaf or two just to try it after having made that comment - had I not logged back on tonight. I must also say that NOW I think a mystery which sent me to the hospital last summer has been solved. I went to the emergency room with muscle twitching in my face and COVERED head to toe in painful hives--- my skin hurt, my muscles and joints hurt - I was in misery and required bags of IV fluids, antihistamine injections and the like. Where was I all day? In the garden, where I stripped leaves off tomato plants, bare handed of course, and ate generously of the fruit while I worked. I sustained a spider bite while working, and the doctors figured I must have had a bad reaction to it. Now I realize what they probably should have. Thank you all SO much.
