Flax seeds

Depending on where you live, you might be able to find them in a mainstream

food market that has a pretty good " natural foods " section, or definitely in

a health food store.

I've seen them in packages. They come as seeds, or ground, as flax meal.

You really need to grind them before using the seeds. They are small, but

have a hard shell. Without grinding them, they won't get broken

down/digested.

You can buy them already ground, but keep them in the fridge. They have a

short shelf life before they become rancid. Seeds will keep well at room

temp.

Personally, I buy the seeds and grind a batch in an electric coffee grinder

that I keep just for grinding seeds/spices. This way, I always have a good

supply of seeds on hand and don't have to worry about the " freshness "

factor.
