My husband and I have Rheumatoid Arthritis, along with other physical problems including high blood pressure, asthma, and fibromyalgia. One month ago we started a mostly vegetarian, organic diet, heavy on raw foods, hoping to counteract the effects of the strong medication we have to take. My husband has lost 14 pounds, and I've lost 10, which is good news for our joints. Also, his BP is now normal. We began the diet, hoping it would help boost our immune systems, which is compromised by the meds we have to take for the RA. Having never considered vegetarianism before now, there is a lot I need to learn, if we are going to succeed. We still eat seafood occasionally, but no other meat at all, and it has been surprisingly easy for us.
