Spanish Rice

We use a recipe very much like this but also add

Worsteshire (sp?) sauce to taste, which really seems to add

a great flavor. You can also make Spanish rice with

leftover rice. Just saute the onions and peppers first, add

tomato sauce and/or chopped tomatoes until it is as moist

as you like. It's fast, easy, and yummy either way!

I want to try making some Spanish Rice - really spicy and flavorful - that my

vegan Son-in-law can enjoy with the rest of the family. Can anyone give me a

good recipe?

Zelda,

I don't have a recipe but I do have a hint for making Spanish Rice. A

Hispanic friend showed me how she makes hers. She first browns the rice

in a dry(no oil) skillet being careful not to scorch it. This gives the

rice a very different nutty flavor. She says the rice is then always

fluffy and never sticky. She then simmers the rice with regular canned

*crushed * tomatoes, and chili pepper to taste. It is so easy and very

good.
