reading labels/fine print

I got an email from my local grocery store promoting meatless meals. The had a

prepared dish that included tofu with lots of veggies. I sounded wonderful to

me so I headed up to the store where I read the fine print under the

ingredients. The base for the dish is lobster, clams and shrimp.

Needless to say I have fired off a complain for including it in their 'meatless'

suggestions. Who knows if I will get an answer. They are probably tired of

hearing my suggestions for including more vegetarian selections. At least the

egg rolls are now called vegetable egg rolls and not vegetarian. I complained

mightily about the anchovies in them. Now if I could just get them to use

vegetable shortening in their vegetable pies instead of lard. At the price of

lard, it won't likely ever happy. Cheap is what most supermarkets focus on.

Have a great day

I find that to be a problem in a lot of situations......I'm sorry but Vegetable

soup is not vegetarian if the base is chicken stock! I don't take the vegetarian

label seriously without reading a list of ingredients. My cousin is also

vegetarian, so when my aunt says something she made is vegetarian....I can

pretty much trust that, but for the rest of my family (How can you not eat

meat?) I never take their word for it.......if something has vegetables in it,

they call it vegetarian. We have a lot of restaurants around here that do the

same, they have a seperate " vegetarian " section on the menu........last time I

checked crab cakes are not vegetarian.
