Guest guest
I'm originally from New Orleans and rice is a staple in my diet. I've never owned a rice cooker and always make mine on the stove. Here's how: 1 C raw rice 2 c water salt to taste (I use less than 1 Teasp) You need a good pot with a tight lid (I use the middle size pot for this much rice) Put rice, water and salt in pan. Put on lid. DO NOT REMOVE lid. Bring to boil on high heat. You can touch a handle or lid top to " feel' When it comes to a boil. Cut heat to simmer and set timer to 15 minutes. After 15 minutes remove from heat and let sit for at least 10 minutes. DO NOT REMOVE LID. After rice has sat for at least 10 minutes remove lid and fluff with a fork. This is for white rice but you can adjust for brown rice by adding a bit more water and increasing cooking and sitting time.
Guest guest
My version of perfect rice Of course I do have a rice cooker and I use jasmine rice. Rice is a huge staple in my house I usually buy by the 25lb bag, it is a lot cheaper to do this I pay about 12 for a 25 lbs bag a lot cheaper than the grocery. Go to an oriental market with help with many fresh veggies, herbs , rice and other staples, such as noodles. Oh back to a perfect rice recipe. I take the rice of course I rinse my rice several time until the water runs clear. Cover the rice with water up to the first knuckle on my pinkie about an inch above the water/. Put in the rice cooker and cook LOL> Even if I cook rice on top of the stove I do it the same way. Much luck to all Tink ---- Mizz Peller 01/11/08 18:02:58 Perfect Rice I'm originally from New Orleans and rice is a staple in my diet. Guest guest
I really appreciate this information. My rice never turns out quite right and I don't like those messy rice cookers. I will try your secret rice. Zelda
