Guest guest Posted December 22, 2007 Report Share Posted December 22, 2007 Greek Baked Apples With Syrup 4 medium cooking apples (I use Gala or Gran Smith) 1/4 cup chopped walnuts 1/4 cup golden raisins 1 tsp. honey or maple syrup 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon 1/4 tsp. ground cloves 1 cup water 1 cup honey or maple syrup 1 tsp. lemon juice 1 cinnamon stick whipped cream (optional) Core apples but don't cut through the bottom. Pare 1/2 inch at the stem end. Combine raisins, walnuts, 1 tsp honey, ground cinnamon and ground cloves. Put this mixture in center of the apples. Arrange apples in a 8 " by 8 " baking pan. Combine water, honey, lemon juice and cinnamon stick in saucepan and bring to boil. Simmer for 2 minutes. Remove cinnamon stick and pour syrup over apples. Bake in a preheated 375 degree oven until tender, about 45 minutes, Baste with syrup from the pan as it bakes.
