I loved this recent recipe of Julie's. I was a tad messy at it, but the

tahini-sesame seed crust was worth it. (I always love fried/sauteed/baked tofu

as

well as tahini sauces.)

Does anyone have any other good recipes that use tahini (other than

Hummus and Baba Ganough)...

Toasted Sesame-Coated Tofu

Use toasted sesame seeds, if you havwe raw seeds just

toast in a hot dry skillet, shake them around for a

few minutes.

2 tablespoons tamari

1 pound extra-firm tofu, cut into 8

triangle-shaped slices, 1/2 " thick

1/3 cup tahini

1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

1/2 cup sesame seeds

Bit of crushed red pepper flakes

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Brush 1 tablespoon tamari over tofu slices and set

aside.

Combine tahini, 1/3 cup water, lemon juice and

remaining 1 tablespoon tamari in blender or food

processor and process until smooth. Transfer mixture

to shallow bowl.

Place sesame seeds on plate. Dip and coat tofu slices

in tahini mixture, then in sesame seeds with red

pepper flakes.

In large skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Add

coated tofu slices and cook until lightly browned,

about 2 to 3 minutes per side. Work in two batches if

necessary. Serve hot.

Serves 4.
