Guest guest
Tempeh is not the same as tofu. Tempeh is a traditional Indonesian fermented soyfood made from split soybeans, water and a special bacteria. Often used as a meat substitute, it is high in protein and when made traditionally, a source of vitamin B12. It has a rather strong taste that may take some getting use to before you can eat it straight. The first time I ate it, I hated it. After I had been vegetarian for awhile, I tried it again and it was not too bad, but needed help. So, I began using it in recipes where it was mixed with other flavors. Today, I can just eat it fried. If it is not available in your local natural food store, ask them if they can get it. You may also find it in an international grocery or Indonesian grocery store. I hope you enjoy it! , " paul_mabbott " <peter- mabbott wrote: > > Also - could you clarify for me that 'tempeh' and 'tofu' are the same > things? Or could someone from UK tell me where to get tempeh! > Cheers, Paul > Sounds a great idea .... >
