Guest guest
This is my friend's mom's recipe that she got from a Navy wife when her husband was in the service. They are good, I've made them for several years. Chilling the dough really helps. Amy Christmas Sugar Cookies Cream together: 1/2 cup butter & 1/2 cup margarine (don't use all butter - cookies spread too far) 1 cup sugar Beat in: 1 egg Sift together and blend in: 3 cups sifted all purpose flour 1 tsp baking soda 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg Chill dough overnight. Roll out a small amount of dough, using as little flour as possible (I use no flour and roll between two pieces of wax paper). Dough should be 1/8 inch thick. Cut with floured cookie cutters. Place on baking sheet at least 1 inch apart. Bake at 400 degrees between 5 and 8 minutes (depends on the size of the cookie). Cookies should start getting golden at the edges. Either decorate with sugars prior to baking or frost and decorate once cookies are cool. **************************************See AOL's top rated recipes (http://food.aol.com/top-rated-recipes?NCID=aoltop00030000000004)
