Guest guest
What a shame you can't pop round and help yourself to a few packets of chestnuts from my freezer, LOL. I'm getting a new fridge freezer so I need to eat up all my frozen food before the new one arrives. At this time of year I can buy hot roasted chestnuts from sellers in the streets here. The smell of roasted chestnuts takes me straight back to the Christmasses of my childhood. I like to use chestnuts in stews or I cook and mash them to make a layer in my Christmas nut roast or I roast them with potatoes sprinkled with coriander and cumin seeds. I had some lovely chestnut desserts and candies in Turkey, particularly in Bursa which is renowned for them - I bet the aunties have some great recipes for those. In France you can get marrons glaces. I must go hunt through my recipe books for more chestnut recipes. Christie , " recetta " <alcovi wrote: > > Christie- > I love chestnuts too!
