Guest guest
My mother always would make her sprouts by growing them on the counter at home. She would use two ice cream containers. One would have holes punched in the bottom to allow for water drainage. The second would sit under it to hold the water. She would put a layer of beans in the top container to make an even layer 1 bean deep and then add enough water to reach the beans. She could change the water to keep it fresh and not disturb the beans until they were ready for use. I cannot remember what kind of beans my mother used for this. Does it matter? ************************* Cat (short for Cathy/Catherine) http://www.flickr.com/photos/pondering_cat/ http://360./pondering_cat (AT) sbcglobal (DOT) net *************************
Guest guest
-One should never sprout any packaged, grocery store bought, beans that are not specifically marked safe for sprouting. Packaged store bought beans unless marked 'organic untreated' are coated with chemicals , some specifically treated to keep them from sprouting. You can buy bulk, untreated, organic seeds and beans labled for sprouting at your local health food store.
