Guest guest
My mom used to have one too, I don't understand why they aren't more available. She couldn't find one when she got a new washer. Maybe if you find a clever plumber he/she could plumb it to do this. Let me know, I'm interested int his too. Guest guest
The old wringer washers all did it that way. You washed your whites first, then the colored clothes and last the work clothes or darks. Most washer pumps are strong enough to pump the water up 4 feet or so. Make yourself a greywater tank out of a large capacity plastic garbage can. You will need a sump pump to pump the water back out of that tank into the washer, but it can be done. When I lived in Germany 40 years ago we had a little mini washer and reused water. We did not reuse the wash water, though, Each load dumped the wash water, but saved the rinse water to be used for the next loads wash water. It used more soap, but I had little kids then and even their light colored clothing (diapers, etc) got pretty dirty.
