I know more people don't like beets than do, try this

recipe and it might change your mind.

 

Fancy Beets

 

6 medium-sized beets

1/2 cup sugar

1 tbsp. cornstarch

1/2 tsp. salt

1/2 cup vinegar

2 tbsps. butter

 

Wash the beets, cook them in boiling water until

tender, remove the skins, and cut the beets into thin

slices. In saucepan, combine sugar, cornstarch, salt

and vinegar, let boil for 5 minutes, stirring

constantly. Add the butter, pour the sauce over the

beets and let stand for a few minutes to absorb the

sweet-sour flavor of the sauce.

Pickled beets are my favorite...will have to try beet this way and see if I like

them.....sure sounds good.

This bought back a funny memory of my childhood...I was bought up in the

Victorian country..we always had chooks vegetable patch (huge)...and lots of

fruit trees...anyway mum boiled some beetroot and left them to cool...I peeled

and ate one had red hands and mouth..but of course " No I didn,t eat any

mum " ...Oh I still love warm beetroot today at 55..Bron Brisbane Australia
