fake or real?-Steph

Steph, I, too, love the smell of a real live christmas tree. After I set up my

artificial tree I go to the tree lots and they will usually give me 6 or 7

stumps for free. They always cut off the bottom couple of inches when they sell

trees, so that there is a fresh cut to take up the water. They have no use for

the pieces they cut off, but I do. I put a piece, hidden, in every room of the

house and then we have that wonderful natural christmas smell with no mess, no

needles and no allergies.

A piece layes in the wood stach of firewood, one hides under each bed, in the

cabinets in the bathrooms and taped to the bottom of the dining room table.

I would love to invest in a fake tree to save trees plus help with my

son's allergies but I worry that it is such a tradition and the smell in the

house is so lovely. I hate the vacuuming for sure and the cost last year we paid

$30 to cut one down and it only lasts a couple weeks. But the tradition of it

all my kids take turns cutting down the tree and we always try to find one with

a birds nest in it for good luck. One year we saw a bunny under the tree. I'm

such a nature freak. If we had a place to plant a live tree I would do that in a

heartbeat even if it only lasted 10 days then again winter in December here in

Vermont well good luck digging a hole. Lots to think about It is a hard choice.

Thanks for all your stories they were great.
