Become a Millionaire for the Animals in 2006! -Matt Ball, co-founder of Vegan Outreach. The easiest thing we can do to change the world for the better is, of course, to make compassionate choices every day. But if our personal vegetarianism is imperative and important -- and it certainly is, given the thousands of chickens, turkeys, pigs, lambs, and cattle we will spare from the horrors of modern animal agriculture during our lifetime -- then the influence we can have on others is at least as important. Convincing just one person to go vegetarian will double our impact! In his book Meat Market, Erik Marcus notes that by influencing just 500 people to go vegetarian, one can be a millionaire for the animals -- that is, save a million animals from the horrors of factory farms! 500 people may seem unreasonable, but that is less than one person a month over the course of fifty years. If you assume that only 1% of the people who receive a Vegan Outreach booklet change their diet (which is conservative, given the feedback Vegan Outreach receives), you can be a millionaire by distributing just 100 copies of Why Vegan, Try Vegetarian, or Even If You Like Meat each month, or donating enough to print and distribute that many booklets. Believing that only large groups and massive campaigns can

have an impact on the world has prevented us from realizing that each of us can -- and must -- be powerful and effective advocates for the animals and a better world. Thousands of members of Vegan Outreach have changed the world, and this year, you can, too! Notes from Our Members It has been an amazing week in Vancouver. Despite the fact that it rained every day, 16 wonderful volunteers and I distributed 6,584 Vegan Outreach booklets to university and college students this week in the Vancouver area. Those were spread among 6 schools by a great group of 16 volunteers. There were many other volunteers and supporters that also helped make this week so successful -- thank you all so much! Information has the power to change lives, and we can expect that this distribution of booklets will be the primary catalyst for many of these students to eliminate much of the

suffering that has been inherent within their choices of food. The vegetarian and vegan population in Vancouver is in the midst of increasing by a bunch!-John Bowers, 1/13/06 Today at the University of Southern California, a young woman in a big hurry said very quickly, "I already got one from you; now I'm a vegetarian. Rock on!" She gave me a high five as she raced by. Yesterday, I leafleted at Cal Poly Pomona, a school known for agriculture with herds of cattle and sheep on campus. I met one young man who was formerly an animal science major. He turned vegan, changed majors, and has been desperate to connect with others who feel the way he does. He asked for some Even Ifs to hand out; I gave him a stack of 50 and directed him to our website. Later, I saw a professor in his mid 50’s walking and talking with a group of about 25 students. I wasn't going to bother them, but he ran up to me and said, "I've got a whole class here if you want to hand me a bunch." I looked at him with skepticism and he replied, "No, seriously!" I gave him some and he handed one out to each student as they walked passed me.
