peas, chick peas, nuts, dried fruit and leafy greens are all suppose to be high in iron....

an addition of vitamin c and/or malic acid(apples) helpes in the absorption of iron... Jonnie Hellens Dec 6, 2005 1:41 PM Re: brewr's yeast

My MIL has been harping on me to take black strap molasses because I keep having a problem with my iron. I told her I have no idea what to put that in and she said I should just take a big ol' spoonful each day. Umm... yuck?!fraggle <EBbrewpunx wrote:

they are *sorta* the same

the difference being brewer's yeast is more bitter, because it is grown in..beer

No, the recipe said to make sure to get nutritional yeast and pointed out that they weren't the same. What say you frag? Are there different nutritional yeasts?

Yeah... It seems like I should have plenty of iron, I do beans and rice most days, do nuts some, etc as well as take a multi vit. I'm guessing that it's cuz of the blood thinners. I went off of them a while back and (my next apt, the doc really reamed me about the importance of being on them) the anemia problems went away. After Jo sent me some messages, I am a lot more conscientious of having more vit C.
