Guest guest
Bleached ones, and the ones we get here usually are, are hard on the environment since they are bleached with all of the repercussions of that. And I don't believe you want left over dioxin in your compost which is an outcome of the bleaching process. linda "Whatever you do will be insignificant and it is very important that you do it."Mohandas Gandhi linda's Growing Stitchery Projects: womyn47 - Susan Thursday, December 01, 2005 10:26 AM Re: Re: Dining out-rant One solution that might be more sustainable would beto buy paper plates made from recycled materials (ifthere are any) and then put them in the compost when you are through. Guest guest
Yes, I thought about the bleach thing later since I use unbleached coffee filters. I vermicompost, so I don't want weird things in with my hard working worms (who, by the way, have the freedom to come and go as they please he he). I read a book about earthworms written by Darwin; it was intersting. He gave them bits of triangle shaped leaves and they turned them so that the pointed end went down their holes first! Another interesting thing I learned from another source is that earthworms help to detoxify the soil; they actually ingest toxins and change them in some way (I don't remember what way). If an earthworm can fit a triangle peg into a round hole, the world better watch out! Susan If I seem like I'm full of trivia, it's not because I'm trivial, it's because I am full and overflow now and then. --- linda <lindai81 wrote: > Bleached ones, and the ones we get here usually are, > are hard on the environment since they are bleached > with all of the repercussions of that. Guest guest
Well, keep overflowing. I had never heard this about the worms and it was really interesting. Problem is that now I shall be rescuing worms especially when it rains.
