Guest guest
Keeping your asthma under control during winter time Category: Asthma/Respiratory News Article 23 Nov 2005 People with asthma should not be concerned if they have not had the flu vaccination, asthma experts said today. Erica Evans, Asthma UK's Care Development Manager, reiterated advice to people with asthma to take other precautions against colds and flu: 'Apart from having the flu vaccine there are other measures that people can take to reduce the effects of colds and viruses on their asthma: - - be aware of the first signs of getting ill and act straight away: this means having a clear personal asthma action plan and knowing which medicines to increase and how long for; - - see your doctor or asthma nurse for advice if you do not have a written asthma action plan, or if your symptoms are not improving; - - other factors that will help you to recover if you are unwell include drinking plenty of fluids, keeping warm, getting enough rest and eating a balanced diet.' If you are worried about colds, flu, or any aspect of your asthma, you can speak in confidence to an asthma nurse specialist on the Asthma UK Adviceline, on 08457 01 02 03.
