So next time an English rugby supporter accuses the Welsh of playing on too many foreign players you know what to tell them!Interesting Fact:Unlike Wales, that have a home grown patron saint, England's patron saint (George) was not remotely English. Born in Cappadocia in modern Turkey, there is no proof that his name was George. He was a Roman cavalry officer who lost his head for not renouncing Christianism. He was formally appropriated as an English patron saint in 1348 when Edward III founded the Order of the Garter.

It was the Welsh Tudors, especially Henry VIII and Elizabeth I, whom decreed that the cross of St George should become the flag, rather than just a badge, of England and ordered the White Ensign to be flown by every 'English' ship.
