ABC has a history of strong coverage of the dolphin industry, including an August 2001 expose on 20/20 showing shocking footage of dolphin capture and transport for a swim with dolphins program in Mexico. Tonight, Thursday, October 27, the tradition appears set to continue. From the ABC TV website:"Coming Up on PrimetimeThursday, Oct. 27 at 10 p.m.ET ..... Plus, the popularity of dolphin parks is booming, with visitors lining up to get up close and personal with the adorable animals. But a 'Primetime' investigation finds that there's a dark side to the dolphin park industry."(Note: Primetime airs at 10pm in most West Coast cities, and at 9pm Mountain -- but please check your local listings.)At http://abcnews.go.com/Primetime/story?id=131877 & page=1 Primetime invites comments: "Questions or comments about a Primetime broadcast? Ideas for issues or stories you’d like us to explore? Tell us about them."Please thank the show for covering the dark side of the dolphin park industry. And if you have other issues you wish to see covered, do let them know!I thank David Sickles for making sure we knew about the show. The following Earth Island press release about the show is at http://www.earthisland.org/saveTaijiDolphins/pressRelease102405.html--ABC News “Primetime” Features Story aboutDolphin Trafficking and the Fight to Protect Japan’s DolphinsABC’s news program PRIMETIME will feature a story on the killing of dolphins in Japan and the impacts of the trafficking in live dolphins for aquariums. The segment will include efforts by Earth Island Institute, the Elsa Nature Conservancy (ENC) of Japan, and One Voice, a leading French animal protection organization, to protect the dolphins and stop the annual slaughter.AIR DATE: October 27, 200510 p.m. East & West Coast 9 p.m. Central & Mountain Japan’s Fisheries Agency allows the slaughter of an estimated 20,000 dolphins annually off their shores. This brutal massacre – the largest scale dolphin kill in the world – goes on for six months of every year. Even more shocking, the captive dolphin industry is an accomplice to the kill. Many dolphins are caught in “drive fisheries” conducted by the fishermen of Taiji and Futo, where whole schools are herded into shallow waters into enclosures. The international aquarium industry pays thousands of dollars for a few of the dolphins used in aquarium shows; the rest are slaughtered and sold on the Japanese market. The Primetime program also exposes dolphin trafficking operations in the Solomon Islands, Mexico, and the Caribbean. Earth Island Institute, the Elsa Nature Conservancy (ENC) of Japan, and One Voice – France have joined together to end the dolphin slaughter. Dramatic footage of the dolphin slaughter obtained by our coalition will be featured on the show, as well as interviews with activists from our organizations. (END OF EARTH ISLAND PRESS RELEASE)-----------------Watch if you can, and please make sure to thank ABC's "Primetime" at http://abcnews.go.com/Primetime/story?id=131877 & page=1 Yours and the animals',Karen Dawn

I have realized that the past and future are real illusions, that they exist in the present, which is what there is and all there is.
