I know that a lot of people love Vegan with a Vengeance, Steph, and I

feel I ought to like it, but I have been really disappointed by most of

the recipes I have tried and some I have actually had to throw out. The

only real success I have had has been my adaptation to the Mocha Chip

Muffins and even they are rather heavy. That may be due to differences

between the flour in USA and UK so I shall keep experimenting.

Someone here was raving about the mashed potatoes with chickpea gravy.

I really hated the texture of the gravy, although I love all the spices

in it. I tried it a second time, thickening the gravy with cooked split

red lentils instead of flour and it was much more to my taste and made

for a protein-rich meal.

Christie,

Everyone has such unique taste buds thats what makes us all so special. I

don't blame you for throwing it out when I try several recipes from a cookbook

that I don't like I give the book away so I can use my space wisely. In fact I

just bought a cookbook my girlfriend raved about called The New Whole Grain

Cookbook most of the recipes I tried were so bland I donated it to the library.

Happy Cooking

The only cookbook I ever threw away was the revised anniversary

edition of the original Moosewood cookbook. I tried about a dozen

recipes and we all loathed every one of them. I love the original

Moosewood cookbook but despise the revised edition. For

lowcal/lowfat, Bobbie Hinman's recipes are outstanding.

Oh no, I didn't explain well. I still have the book - it was the food

that had to be flung out. I will persevere with the book because I am

sure that there are recipes that I will enjoy or which I can adapt and

then enjoy, like the chickpea gravy.
