Turtle Cake

Note: No turtles were harmed in the making of this cake.

 

Turtle Cake

14 ounce package caramels (unwrapped)

1 cup evaporated milk

1 German sweet chocolate cake mix

1 cup chopped pecans

1 stick butter or margarine, melted

1 egg

Grease a 9 " X13 " baking pan. Melt caramels in 1/3 cup of evaporated milk and

set aside. Prepare cake mix with the rest of the evaporated milk and butter.

Spread half of cake mixture in baking pan and bake at 350*F for 15 minutes.

Remove from oven and spread with caramel mixture. Sprinkle with chocolate chips

and chopped pecans. Add beaten egg to the rest of the cake mixture and pour

over the baked layer. Return to oven and bake an additional 15 minutes. Cool

before cutting. Good alone or with vanilla ice cream.
