Guest guest
Hit some local thrift stores today and at the last one I stumbled across not one, not two, but three vegetarian cookbooks! I couldn't believe it, I have been looking for months and not found anything. I am now the proud owner of The Vegetarian Epicure, Moosewood Restaurant Cooks at Home, and The Forget-About-Meat Cookbook by Rodale Press. While Moosewood isn't vegetarian in the strict sense, they have fish and seafood recipes, their emphasis is on grains and vegetable stews, etc. I am really excited. These are 'older' vegetarian cooks books, there are some nicer newer ones out there so I hear! But my only other two vege cookbooks were one for kids that is basically cheese pizza, mac-cheese and grilled cheese sandwiches and one that is 'fast' vege cooking, or making vegetarian meals from canned products. Some of the best recipes I have found though are on this site. You guys should publish a book! hint, hint. I'd buy it. It just gives me a happy feeling to actually have some vegetarian cookbooks sitting on my shelf! I made haystacks tonight, hadnt made them in a couple of weeks, I didnt want to 'wear out' the recipe. I also made the Mellow Yellow Bananas from the files which although they were delicious they were not well received! What can I say? I loved them! But when I was a kid I wouldn't eat pb on my bananas either. I finally grew into it a couple of years ago. My daughter did dutifully take a bite and then went 'Ewww!' So hey I ate both of ours! lol Kandi
Guest guest
it's not so hard to publish a cookbook. there are a few companies who do this. We could get a kit for free, copy the recipe sheets, print, cut & paste recipes onto the pages, & send it back. I just did this for my kis school as a fundraiser using recipes sent in by the families. about 200 recipes, sell for $10 - $15 each & we make a pile. If you're a charitable type organization (school, church), you don't need to put any money up front for the printing. We could do this & donate the money to ______. Now...who is this 'we' I keep mentioning? iowa_classic <iowa_classic wrote: Some of the best recipes I have found though are on this site. You guys should publish a book! hint, hint. I'd buy it.
