Guest guest
Hi Catherine, I'm a veg & my DH eats meat. I was veg when we met 16+ years ago. Mostly what works for us is making something that could serve as a vegetarian main course & then DH can ad meat on the side if he wants. Yesterday we had miso soup made with veg broth, veg sushi and fresh bok choy and then DH cooked some pork and noodles on the side. Spaghetti is easy - marinara sauce and DH adds meatballs when he wants them. Burritos - same thing - I fix all the veg stuff & DH puts in slices of meat if he wants them. Fajitas - I do up peppers & onions & he takes his half & adds meat if he wants it. I make up big batches of veg tamales & steam those when DH has his meat ones & we have rice & beans on the side. He usually cooks a roast of some kind on the weekend and then has slices off that through the week to go with whatever veg thing I make. In summer he grills a lot and it's easy to have a mixed meal. Sometimes I make a big batch or 2 of something veg that's easy to reheat (soup, casserole) and have that as my main while DH has a meat meal and we share steamed veg or salad as a side. We both work & commute so cooking ahead helps in more ways than one. You'll figure out what works best for you & your family. Maybe we've been lucky but it hasn't ever been a stresser for us. Sometimes we eat totally separate things and that doesn't feel very chummy but that's not often & usually because one of us forgot to cook ahead There are lots of mixed families on this list hth, Diane , " Catherine " <eraser426 wrote: > > Hi All, > > I recently took the jump into vegetarianism.
