Checking the lid for an expiration date on a can of Libby's Organic

Black Beans I noticed that it states " prod.of China " . Very small and

not easy to read.

The front label states " USDA organic " .

I sent an email to Libby's-Senneca Foods and expect to receive a reply.

I hope this does not offend anyone but due to the recent recall of so

many products from China, I will not buy products, especially so

called " organic " foods from this country.

If anyone can enlighten me and assure me that these food products are

safe I will apologize.

Don't apologize, Deanna. I think it's high time we ALL took more of a

pro-active roll regarding our food supply.

From what I've read, many other countries are rather lax in their food

standards, and the US has allowed those countries' products to be imported.

I also remember reading several years ago about the pesticide chain....we

send our outlawed pesticides to Third World countries, and we get'em right

in the fruits and vegetables they export to us. I hope that has stopped by

now.

I also read recently that Canada has some pretty high standards, so when I

buy produce, I look for anything Canadian rather than other countries.

Ultimately, we have educate ourselves and, armed with that knowledge, do the

best we can.

Just my humble opinion....

I agree, we don't know their regulations and we have enough probelsm

in our own food line so I cringe when I think about things I eat

being imported in bulk not knowing what's really in the batch.
