Guest guest
Judy, I just wash the Basil and lay it out on a paper towel to dry. I live in a dry climate so it takes just a day or two. I do leave a small stem on each bunch of Basil that I pick. I used to remove the stem and just dry the leaves but for some reason it seems to me that there is more flavor to the leaves if a stem is left intact. I then store it in a glass jar . It was a great year for Basil and other herbs. But yes I will miss the fresh picked Basil when it is gone. I try to gather all of it before the first frost. Thankfully it is still quite hot here and mine is being super prolific this year. I fertilized it last week and it has doubled on leaves and size. I have two different kinds of Basil plants, but about 10 plants in the large patio pot. Is is so lush. How do you dry yours? Just lay it out on the counter to dry or do you use some other method? > Judy

I know someone who uses one of those salad spinner things, for drying fresh rinsed sprouts and herbs. I don't own one, so I can't say first hand, but supposedly it works rather well.
