Balsamic Fig Sauce

Balsamic Fig Sauce

1 lb. fresh figs, preferably Black Mission, chopped

1/3 cup red wine

1 tbsp. balsamic vinegar

1 pinch salt

1/8 tsp. freshly ground pepper

1/2 tsp. sugar

1 sprig fresh thyme

Combine all ingredients with 1/2 cup water in a saucepan. Cover; bring to boil

over high heat. Reduce to a simmer; cook, partially covered, until fruit has

broken down, about 20 to 30 minutes. Let cool slightly; remove thyme sprig.

Press mixture through a large-holed sieve with a rubber spatula.

Yes Sharon,

99 cents EACH!! I haven't caved in and bought any. Seeing this recipe and

loving figs like I do...well I just might take the plunge. Maybe I will make

just half the recipe incase I dont care for it.

Thank you for the recipe! This looks fantastic! I will use this over

my kale/spinach/cress salad next week. How much is everyone paying for

black mission figs? Here in Philly at my local Pathmark, they are a

whopping 99 cents a peice! I did get a quart box of the pale green

ones which were delicious for $1.50...they were small, soft but utterly

delicious! I got my first pomegranites of the season the other day

too...they were softball sized for 99 cents each, I thought that was a

bargin. I bought 5. lol

..99 center EACH! Wow, I pay $1.99 for a whole box. Those green ones

are called Kodata and they can be yummy too. :-)
