Cover; bring to boil over high heat. Reduce to a simmer; cook, partially covered, until fruit has broken down, about 20 to 30 minutes. Let cool slightly; remove thyme sprig. How much is everyone paying for black mission figs? Here in Philly at my local Pathmark, they are a whopping 99 cents a peice! I did get a quart box of the pale green ones which were delicious for $1.50...they were small, soft but utterly delicious! I got my first pomegranites of the season the other day too...they were softball sized for 99 cents each, I thought that was a bargin.
