type 1 diabeties and protien needs

In the interest of my friend's health, I have decided to come to you,

the experts in the field of vegetarianism.

My boyfriend is a type 1 diabetic. (since age 8, now 43 years of age)

He believes he has to have animal protien daily because of his

diabetes. I believe it does not matter what kind of protien as long as

he has protien in his diet.

Please enlighten us,

You are100% right. You need not worry. Frankly the high protein diet

can be harmful for kidney and the kidney is the most vulnerable organ

for a diabetic. You have to maintain a balance to keep sugar to its

normal level by eating small quantity more frequently. First conduct a

urine protein test and then decide the quantity of protein to be taken.
