I'm brand new to this list and feel I have to jump in and comment on Steph

saying she is sheltered in VT. I live in southern Ontario and I have to drive

to Niagara Falls or Buffalo NY, a 2 hour drive across the border, to purchase

any Quorn products. They have never been approved for sale in Canada. It has

something to do with what they call their main ingredient and the company that

makes the Gardenburgers here protested. The govt, in it's usual stupidity,

listened and the products were banned. When I visit my daughter in England

every few years, I get to try all of the products that I can't find in Niagara.

It's a very limited selection in the stores there but better than nothing.

We do have some new products showing up in the stores now that are lower in fat

but again...........I have to drive and hunt for stores that carry them on a

regular basis. I am not sheltered, I am deprived at times.

I'm enjoying the chit chat and recipes on the list. I'm a senior citizen and

have been a vegetarian for the past 20 years. Unfortunately I'm the only one in

my family. One daughter and 2 granddaughters were for many years but they gave

in to peer pressure and went back to the meat diet. I was disappointed and

still hope they will 'see the light'. My daughter teaches yoga and meditation

so I think she will eventually feel the need of a healthier diet.

My passion has been quilting but lately the vegetarian and environmental issues

have become more important to me again. I'm buying books that I feel I would

like others to read - at the moment Animal, Vegetable, Miracle and the

Omnivore's Dilemma are making the rounds of my friends.

Have a great day

Audrey
