Guest guest
I am so sorry that you cannot use and enjoy " real " dishes. I keep taking my glucosamine sulfate and knitting hoping that I do not end up with arthritic hands. One of my joys is picking up dishes for a pence @ thrift stores. I have a rather large collection of Corning Ware Centura which has not been sold for probably 30 years. Then I use them for everyday and company. I have so many dishes that when I have entertained more than 50 people and have never run out of dishes. The only problem with Centura is that it cannot be used in the microwave--training my husband not to put it in the microwave has resulted in several broken dishes. But, there are always more where those came from: St Vincent de Paul. For fancy occasions, I have the mix and match blue and white Spode. For Christmas, I have Spode's Christmas Tree. I also inherited my grandmother's fine china which has only been used once because it has to be hand washed. We are in the process of moving and I have had to move all of those aforementioned dishes. The Corning Centura is especially heavy. I use Corelle in our trailer for camping because it is less likely to break. I have yet to break one. Kathleen Eureka CA Over the years I have broken many Corelle dishes. These days my arthrititic hands either use Styrofoam (I know, my seriously bad) or microwave safe plastic. Not sure which is worse but there are days I simply cannot hold our " real " plates.
