Guest guest
Oh my! Does that take me back! I love that book. I still own that book. They did a follow up book a few years later called Recipes for a Small Planet. I have that one too. Many moons ago a new friend of mine informed me that she did not eat meat. I thought at the time that is an odd way to combine words in a sentence, it almost sounds like you don't eat meat! lol One of the books she shoved in my hands was Diet for A Small Planet. I almost consider it still a must read for new vegetarians. Well that started me on the road to reconsider what I had been brought up regarding as a normal diet. However it has taken me many years to implement fully what I read. I tried going vege off and on. My husband was a die hard meat and potatoe man and would have nothing to do with it. I still started doing the meatless Monday thing years ago and he just shut up and put up with it. I was going to go into vege full throttle and then realized I didnt feel that good when I ate TVP, meat substitutes, etc. Came to find out I am gluten intolerant. And they all (that I have found) contain wheat. So that set me back for a long time. I thought I have to have something to eat! The last few years though there has been an explosion of items available gluten free and new foods more readily available for veges. So I am back on track. This month we are eliminating red meat. When I hit my month annivesary we are going to party! Oh and by the way I am iowa_classic. I was raised in eastern Iowa. I have lived all over the place and for now am in Omaha. But I will always be a Iowa farm girl at heart. lol Kandi
