I've been a vegetarian since 1974. The article above is interesting and gives some good info on the various brands.... I just chuckle when I think back to what used to be the vegetarian alternatives to burgers. " Back in the day " we would grind up soybeans in the blender, then mix with oats, wheat flour, a bunch of seasonings, sunflower seeds, etc. add egg or oil (or both) and *that* was a veggie burger! We used this mixture to make " meatloaf " and " bugers " , cooked it and added it to spaghetti sauce and so forth.... What an advance when some company (can't remember the name) came out with a pre- made mix that you only added water to! and then came tofu burger mix, to which one added tofu to make burgers..... And now, we buy them in the frozen section at most " normal " grocery stores, ie not health food stores.... I just about fainted when a few years ago, my father-in-law took us to a TGIF for lunch and there were " Garden Burgers " on the menu... I asked the waitress twice if this was a beef burger with vegetables and she replied no, it was the real vegetarian brand Garden Burger..... How times have changed...... Wonder what Francis Moore Lappe thinks of all this.... Anyway, thanks for this group..... Catherine
