Guest guest
Here in the USA down south we eat beans with corn pone or with corn bread. (pone is fried in a skillet and bread is baked). Up north, corn pone and corn bread is not as popular, so everyone eats sliced white bread or biscuits. Just take your sliced bread and make toast. Butter the toast if you want to. Then you can either crumble the toast into the bowl of beans, dip the toast into the beans, spoon the beans on the toast one bite at a time, or lay the toast on a plate and pour the beans on top. The beans can be drained so they are not so wet if you don't like soggy toast... In the USA we think of a can of beans as being camping in a tent food or poor peoples food. But there ain't nothing better than a big bowl of beans with a slice of onion and a slab of corn pone. Now thats comfort food.
