It really doesn't matter. Perfectly fine mincemeat can be made sans fat, or a little oil could be subbed. I'm trying to convince Donna, to no avail, that mincemeat is a finer grind of a chutney, which it is; she won't believe me. Just study some of the recipes, and leave out the m**t. It is good stuff, though very sugar laden and rich. Blessings, Jack
Guest guest
I can't add a lot to this subject, never liked the stuff even when I did eat meat. I do know though that flax seed oil capsules are recommended to vegetarians for Omega 3 fatty acids. I've been hearing more and more about flax seed oil on Good Eats too, mostly about the care of it since it's a bit on the expensive side from what I understand. So if you could find a way to use flax seed oil in the vegetarian mincemeat, you'd be doing your heart a favor! _____ > > > I read, somewhere, that flax seed could be used to replace fat; don't know?
