Guest guest
Recently there were many posts on Quorn, which sounds yummy. I was wondering if there were vegan oppitions in addition to the Vegetarian options but every label I read contained eggs so I went to the Quorn website and sent a question, my question was : Does Quorn have any vegan options in addition to the vegetarian if so which ones are they? I am going to cut/paste the answer for your info: Dear Ann, Thank you for your recent email regarding Quorn products. The ingredients used in the Quorn line of products are vegetable in origin, but all contain a small amount of egg white which is added as a binding agent to produce the firm, meat-like texture that our customers enjoy, and some include milk-derived protein. Over the years, we have expended considerable effort working to find suitable alternative binders to replace the egg which would give the same eating quality and make our products acceptable to vegans. Unfortunately we have never been able to replicate the textures & flavors of our current products with the commercially available, vegan approved, food ingredients. We value and respect the views of all our customers and hope to meet their criteria at some time in the future. We will continue to search for acceptable alternatives to egg whites, fully assessing new ingredients as they come onto the market. Thank you once again for contacting us with your question. Please feel free to contact us again should you have any additional questions or comments. In good health, Terry Ainsley Quorn Foods Inc.
