They get soft. I usually left them out with a slotted spoon, Sissy leaves them

in.

Donna,

Do you leave the broken pieces of Cinnamon stick in the rice mixture when you

blend it?

Thanks for reposting,

Judy

Horchata (rice milk drink) reposted recipe Chanda

Here you go. Add some cardamom and reduce the sugar,

it will still be good. I like it on my oatmeak and

cold cereal and it's good over ice and drink.

Horchata (rice milk drink)

1 cup long grain rice, rinsed

2 quarts water

1 cinnamon stick, broken into pieces

1 teaspoon vanilla (optional) I always use it

1/2 cup white sugar or less

In a large saucepan, combine rice, water and cinnamon

stick. Set aside for 1-3 hours.

After soaking, bring to a boil, reduce heat, and

simmer for 30 minutes. Allow to cool.

Puree rice mixture in a blender until smooth. Strain

through cheesecloth or a fine sieve. Flavor with

vanilla and sugar to taste. Chill, and serve over ice.

the dust of everyday life.
