Guest guest
A few of you, or maybe none of you will know Carla Emery. She was the voice of back-to-basics, back-to-the-earth, homesteading way of life. Many long years ago she was looking for a way to make money and wrote a book at her kitchen table and then ran it off on colored paper using a mimeograph machine. She traveled around to fairs and what have you selling this book. Eventually it became a "real" book (Carla Emery's Encyclopedia of Country Living). A real story of what one can do if one simply puts one's mind to it! She made the Guinness Book of World Records for the biggest book in general circulation published on a mimeograph machine and most copies sold of a self-published book (15,000 back in the 70s). At anyrate, she passed away on October 11 from complications of low blood pressure. I'm lucky to have one of those original multi-colored mimeograph machine run off books!
