Guest guest
the last open air guillotine in france was in 1939 the nazi's used it extensively in france during the occupation, but behind walls the last execution with a guillotine was actually in 1977....france then soon after abolished the death penalty as for life after decapitation..yes and no it is possible for the brain to remian aware 13-20 seconds after being severed assuming the blow doesn't render you instantly unconscious but...a lot of the stories of eyes blinking and such appear to be apocraphal... there is a famous tale of the murderess of murat..forgot her name..sorry...being guillotined and the executioner slapping her cheeks, and the crowd swore she blushed and then her face turned indignant..but...my question is..she blushed? with wot? she has no way t o pump blood into her cheeks..assumin it all just didn't dump out into the basket... while i'm not saying its not impossible, i think a lot of the stories are just that..stories... tho..i'm sure some folks are unlucky enough to be still conscious fr a few seconds afterwards i especially like the one about two rival National Assembly members who were beheaded, and then one bit the other one...thats almost cute.. I once read that a persons brain is alive for exactly one to three minutes after being chopped off. In essence meaning, that those that had thier head paraded in front of the crowd, got to see people cheer about their own head being cut off. a scientist once, guillotined a criminal, stared at the head and the head blinked back at him and attempted to speak. , fraggle <EBbrewpunx@e...> wrote: > of course fine is a relative term > surviving smallpox just to have yer head lopped off..hmmm..how great of a trade is that? > To send an email to -
