Guest guest
depends on wot ya mean by daddy long legs on the east coast of the US and in some of the UK, daddy long legs refer to a creature which isn't a spider at all..its this little ball with long legs(its thorax and abdomen are all one ball, not seperate like in spiders), and lack venom glandsthey're true name is harvestmen... they feed on decaying things, er small insects, like aphids..some suck plant juices// other long legged spiders are called daddy long legs, and here on the left coast, there's another long legged spider, looks like a wingless crane fly, which folks out here call daddy long legs... fraggle Jonnie Hellens Sep 16, 2005 1:22 PM Re: For those of you interested in aromatherapy Don't they eat spiders, or is it mosquitos... I better quit trying to think, I'm short circuiting...Jo Cwazy <heartwork wrote: Much too hot for my liking. We were about 20 today, which is about 72 Fahrenheit. We get a lot of daddy-long-legs at this time of year but they don't bite. Jo - Jonnie Hellens Thursday, September 15, 2005 10:30 PM Re: For those of you interested in aromatherapy Yup, here too. The high today is expected to be 102 degrees. Hmm.. nobody told the bugs that they shouldn't be around now I guess.Jo Cwazy <heartwork wrote: That's good - I will use them next summer. We are quite autumny here now, so there won't be too many bugs around now. I've grown some this year, but up the end of the garden to brighten up a patch. Next year I'll have to pot some up and put them near the house. I do love lavender - it also keeps wasps away, but the bees and butterflies love it. Jo Jonnie Jonnie To send an email to -
Guest guest
That description is right for the UK. I think they are properly called crane flies. - fraggle Saturday, September 17, 2005 3:18 AM Re: For those of you interested in spiders depends on wot ya mean by daddy long legs on the east coast of the US and in some of the UK, daddy long legs refer to a creature which isn't a spider at all..its this little ball with long legs(its thorax and abdomen are all one ball, not seperate like in spiders), and lack venom glands can still do something; and because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do the something that I can do.
