No one is saying you are lying. They are paid different in different areas, that is for sure.

About the rote learning...you'd be surprised how much more creative school is now compared to when you and I went. YEs, they have state tests, that is black and white BUT there are lots of creative writing, and drawing. In fact, when I first subbed, I was impressed with how cozy classrooms had gotten. And the desks are in groups rather than in rows. A lot has changed for the better, in some ways.

So you know a few exceptions. However, at $24,000 a year, the person you know either wasn't a credentialed teacher or only worked part-time.I am only one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but I can still do something; and because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do the something that I can do.

hi kristina,

yes, there are some good improvements in schools.

every week, over the weekend, the desks are rotated around so that they child always has someone different

sitting next to him/her.

also, some "enlightened" schools are seeing the advantages of mixing ages in a subject.

my son has a Fifth grade, mentor, a girl he does science with.
