Guest guest
It was less about the animal situation = the holocaust and more about the similarities in denial. Those who deny the holocaust deny all photographs, personal stories and historical artifacts. Those who deny what is happening to animals are also denying in a similar way. No matter the photos, films and documentation, they deny. It is this similarity that I was speaking about. Also, this conversation was going on for a long time...months. I feel her comments were divisive and inflammatory. But I didn't say anything for a long time. I overlooked her opinions for months. Anyway, I do appreciate your comments and, although her denial maybe the same as those who deny great atrocities...it probably is wise to not say a thing. Using the comparison of the Hollocaust is an opinion, not afact. For the comparison to work one would have to compare like to like. One can compare the chambers to a slaughter house but one can't, usingtruth/fact, compare the Hollocaust to a slaughter house. There is nogenocide or medical experiments, etc. in a slaughter house. There is nowell laid plan to exterminate a whole segment of life. But, the bottomline is that using inflamatory statements stops allcommunication. It does not leave people with something to think about. Itleaves them with anger and supports their belief in how crazy they think acause is. It gives them something to latch onto and say "See, I told youthey are just as bad as what they are against."It is a much better strategy to end it with "well, that is your opinion andI have mine. Maybe we can discuss this again at another time when tempersaren't so high." That way one hasn't made an enemy for the cause. However, this is simply how I would have gone about it and it seems there is more tothis particular incident than first appeared.Lynda-<metalscarabFriday, August 05, 2005 3:41 AMRe: Your imput please> Hi Lynda>> > Perhaps but I'd rather give them something to think about instead of> > something to arm them in their arguments.
