Guest guest
Hi everyone, I am pretty new to the group and have only been reading your messages thus far. I live in Montreal, and I'm currently working at Global Action Network, an animal rights organization that's based here. I study at McGill university and am starting work on a thesis on chimpanzee conservation where there has been human/chimpanzee conflict in Western Uganda. I have been vegetarian for years and am newly vegan. lactose intolerance has caused me to be mostly vegan by default for many years but I am working on making it official. Luckily I hate milk anyway. our family doctor had my mother convinced that we kids should be drinking a giant glass of milk with dinner each day. This of course would make me throw up and give me diarreah so it totally disgusts me beyond the issue of animal cruelty. I get so angry when I see those 'got milk?' ads! Does anyone have advice on how to explain why I'm veg without offending a host? People inevitably ask for an explanation but it's not exactly comfortable to imply that your host has unethical habits or is a murderer while you're a guest in their home. thanks, Julia
