Guest guest
O.K., all you critter lovers, did we have a WAY KEWL experience today! First, ya have to understand that we live 5 miles outside Nowheresville <g> and 2.5 miles up a private dirt road. We live on 12 acres of Ponderosa pine, Douglas Fir and all kinds of oaks. We really live out in the boonies. We see lots of critters all the time--mule deer and wild turkeys waltz across our front yard, we see eagles and hawks just about within touching distance over our heads. DH and the youngest kidlet had a bobcat scream at them (we've cleared that pile of brush). We've seen mountain lion and bear tracks right up by the house. We've seen coyotes and jackrabbits running across our fields and mink and weasles going scooting down to our creek. Lots of wild things. However, today was really an experience. We were driving down our road heading to the library when about 100' in front of us we saw a real long bushy tail disappear into some deer bushes. We were almost to the point where the tail disappeared when we see that it is a gray fox. The fox walked about 40' into the bushes to a little clearing and turned around and watched us. We stopped and watched it watching us. The whole time we were stopped it just stood there and watched us. As we started to drive off, it turned around and started walking off and then paused and glanced over its shoulder to watch us somemore. About an hour or so later we were back on the road heading home (don't ask how many books <g>) and there the fox was again. This time it was only about 25' from us as we pulled up level with it, the fox looked at us and then gave one little fox bark and walked further back into the brush. At the next clearing it turned around and barked once more and then went on its way. Strangest thing I've ever seen! But, way kewl!! Guest guest
Sounds like it was definatly a sight to see! Your home is my retirement dream. Not much around me and plenty of nature.
