Guest guest
I stayed in a hotel in Dublin about 3 months ago and was annoyed to find that there was a feather duvet on the bed. I determined that the pillow was not feather so I pulled the sheet up and folded it down over the duvet so as to avoid contact. It was not ideal but I did not want to make a fuss. The only cure was to have a few drinks before bedtime (any excuse). Last week I read an article in a newspaper about an Irish Woman who went to stay in The Waldorf Astoria in New York and informed them beforehand that she would have a problem with a feather pillow. She had a serious allergic reaction and had to be hospitalised (and has still not recovered) and is suing them for some huge sum. The next time that I book a hotel (and I hope that it will not be for a long time because I hate them) I am going to specify " no feathers " and I am going to make that fuss. Guest guest
We've always been lucky when we have stayed away, and had synthetic pillows and duvets. Hopefully that will continue. Guest guest
Dear Mary, it is funny and not so funny how our society equates animal parts and skins with " LUXURY " I sometimes hear car commercials on the radio (esp. from the high end ones) about their luxurious leather seats. Silk sheets, and blouses also asociated with luxury. not to mention fur, I admit that fur feels soft, but it doesn't belong to me and not at the expense of killing the original owner! If you go into a luxury car dealer ship and say that you prefer Non- Leather seats, first they will give you a look of " what's wrong with you?! then, they will tell you that they will have to special order them. Mercedes-Benz, is thankfully making Vegan seat covers available in their luxury cars. The more we speak up, the more we can diminish the Association of animals with luxury. It is good of you to make a fuss , " Mary Minihane " <minih@g...> wrote: > I stayed in a hotel in Dublin about 3 months ago and was annoyed to > find that there was a feather duvet on the bed.
