Jo I've been reading how kelp is good for the thyroid. I wonder if one takes kelp in the diet that has soy one can mitigate any possible effects from the soy. Also, re: McDougal. I was turned off to him years ago because he said he didn't ever wanted to be called a "vegetarian". He purposely ate turkey on Thanksgiving so he would not have that label. He didn't want to be in "that" group. Than annoyed me ever since and since then I don't pay that much attention to him, even though he may have good things to say. I've always felt he was more a health rather than ethical vegan. Kristina In a message dated 5/20/05 9:33:13 A.M. The only time you need to limit your intake of soy is if you have an underactive thyroid, and even then it is okay to eat it in small amounts.Jo - ChemGeek Thursday, May 19, 2005 4:52 PM Re: So, how bad did I screw up? John McDougall, a huge vegan advocated, says that eating soy beyond anything "occasional" is actually dangerous to your health. Now he's a hellfire and brimstone anti-dairy advocate, so for him to come out and say stuff is somewhat worrisome to me.
